Finding the perfect shade of red lipstick can be annoying. You’ll get a different recommendation from everyone.
I personally like blue-based, bright reds. I’ve worn MAC’s Ruby Woo and for years. I must have gone through 50 tubes by now. It instantly brightens up the face and is the perfect, bright shade of red.
There’s a reason why this shade has remained a cult favorite for makeup artists and celebrities: The tone is flattering for the majority of skin tones and with its blue base, it’s also like a teeth whitening treatment in a tube.
The color wheel:
Blue and yellow are directly across from one another on the color wheel, so blue tones tend to cancel out yellow tones when paired together and vice versa. Therefore, lipsticks formulated with a blue base will help cancel out any yellow tones on your teeth. I love a red lip because you can keep the rest of your makeup easy and light (unless you like looking like a dejected clown), and it’s the one thing that will take your daytime look to nighttime in 2 seconds flat. This lipstick is matte and can be drying so I recommend exfoliating your lips first, a thin layer of chapstick or the lip balm of the Gods, liner (liner shade: Cherry) and then apply.
This nail color is one of my all-time favorites. It is the perfect Tiffany blue. Ever since I was in my teens, I have always manicured my own nails but painting them? Not so much. I still do my own manicures and I go to the salon 1-2 times per week to get a polish change that costs $4. To me, it’s worth it. The polish looks better and lasts longer. I get so many compliments on this color, it’s really beautiful.
Between the lips and the nails, you can go more simple with the hair and the outfit (looks like I missed that memo lol). The dress is Marc Jacobs from a hundred years ago.
