Tell me one person who doesn’t want to have clear skin, better moods and doesn’t care about looking good naked…

…crickets…

Everything that I eat and do, I try to make sure that it contributes to my joy, my health, my confidence, my self esteem and my emotional well being.

I’m a huge fan of feeling and looking good naked. Not solely for the opposite sex, but for myself.

And obviously, I’m also a fan of eating clean, clean, clean.

BUT, I’m not one of those people that likes to impose any of what I eat/how I workout/what I practice on anyone.

Do I think that how I eat/workout/practice is right for everyone? Absolutely not.

Am I a doctor, dietician or an expert in nutrition? Ha, no.

This is what I’ve got: About 7 years ago, my health went really far south. My entire life had been affected by, what doctors would refer to as a “nervous tummy;” I had bouts of eczema all over my body that would come and go, weird breakouts that were so stubborn, they seemed more like some evil cystic allergic reaction than acne, PMS (the sh*tty kind), and the most painful periods in the history of ever. My periods were so bad, it was like prepping for war 3 weeks out of every month.

I had a huge health scare after a bad breakup and thankfully, everything ended up being alright. Ever since that day though, I made the decision to change my life, my health and get to the bottom of these symptoms that I had been experiencing since I was a kid.

It turns out that these symptoms – the skin problems, digestion issues, massive bloating after eating the tiniest meal, etc. – were all signals that something was internally, way out of balance.

Through the years, I’ve seen acupuncturists, osteopaths, chiropractors, naturopaths, doctors (both eastern and western), yogis, nutritionists, you name it.

And I’ve learned a lot (so I’m going to start posting every so often about how I conquered these issues + more of whatever you guys want).

The truth is, when you’re depressed, obsessive, lonely, in pain and feel hopeless, you’re literally creating dis-ease in your body.

Your muscles, tissues and organs all store emotion and trauma.

A lot of you have emailed asking what my skin care regimen is, what I eat, what workouts I do, what makeup I use, etc. and I’m definitely going to get into all that in the next few weeks because it’s not only fun to shake it up a little, but it all contributes to looking, feeling and operating at your best and at the core, that is what Post Male Syndrome is all about.

For this post, I thought I’d start with my skincare regimen. YES, I’ll definitely do a post about what particular products I use on my face, but if you want to know my actual skincare regimen (that works better than any lotion or potion), look no further than part of my breakfast every morning.

I definitely eat more than this for breakfast, but these two always make the cut no matter what else is included.

The reason I call this my skincare regimen is because when you have issues with your skin – whether it be psoriasis, eczema, acne, rosacea, that weird “goatee/beard” of hormonal zits you get every few weeks, etc., it’s really nothing more than your body putting up a literal red flag that it needs your help/attention asap.

The skin truly is the report card of what’s going on inside. The majority of my life, I was getting straight F’s.

Well, this covers all bases: it’s a real ass tightener plus it’s full of antioxidants that help eliminate free radicals, detoxify, and undo damage that can cause breakouts, anxiety and mental fog.

Annnnd its super easy, cost effective and it takes under 3 minutes to prepare (& for me that’s a huge plus because my life seems to always get in the way of me eating in the morning).

Anyway, here are the ingredients (& some of the benefits) to my AM skincare / mini-breakfast routine…

Natasha Adamo

Purified water brought to a boil with 1/4-1/2 lemon squeezed into it – I start every morning with a hot cup of lemon water. I’ll have herbal tea throughout the day, but I always start with hot lemon water before I eat or drink anything. According to this website, hot lemon water:

  • Reduces inflammation.
  • Aids digestion.
  • Helps you lose weight.
  • Cleanses your system.
  • Keeps your skin blemish-free.
  • Gives your immune system a boost.
  • Excellent source of potassium.
  • Freshens your breath {It also helps relieve toothaches and gingivitis, but because the citric acid can erode tooth enamel, either hold off on brushing your teeth after drinking lemon water or brush your teeth before drinking it}.
  • Gives you an energy boost.
  • Helps to cut out caffeine
  • Helps fight viral infections.

Organic Applesauce (you can go to Costco and buy a box of like 40 individual packs of organic applesauce). An apple a day… we all know this is healthy. Just make sure that the applesauce that you purchase has no added sugar, is organic and for extra credit, GMO free.

Organic Cinnamon, which according to this website, benefits in numerous ways including aiding in brain activity, decreasing inflammation, alleviating heavy menstruation / PCOS and it has antimicrobial properties as well.

And last but not least, my favorite (!!!) – Bee Pollen – This is basically what keeps my skin breakout-free and looking like I live life in the Valencia filter.

Bee pollen is known to increase energy & help with allergies (especially if it’s local), plus so.much.more.

Who needs caffeine now?

Not only has bee pollen made my seasonal allergies a thing of the past, it also has so many other badass benefits. Like what?

  • Smoothes skin.
  • Helps with the digestive and respiratory system.
  • Helps with infertility problems.
  • Helps strengthen hair & nails with its vitamins, minerals, & enzymes.
  • Promotes weight loss.

+ you can find more benefits of bee pollen here

{Disclaimer: please note that a lot of people are highly allergic to bee pollen (& don’t know it). If you’ve never ingested bee pollen, please try one kernel under your tongue to see if you’re allergic before ingesting any kind of bee pollen}.

And there you have it – get clearer skin, feel more energized, mentally clear and get looking good naked by taking a 3 minute time-out every morning for YOU. We can all get up 5 minutes earlier.

Try it out and LMK how you feel 🙂

BECAUSE CLEAR SKIN, BETTER MOODS AND LOOKING GOOD NAKED IS ALWAYS A PLUS

I’ve got some good posts coming week plus I have a new commenting system that I think is much easier/user friendly now. Yeah? Let me know!

You motivated me to start yoga and get healthy in 2016 Natasha. I’m going to my local health food store and getting these items this week and it doesn’t hurt that my neighbors have a lemon tree lol. If it helps my skin and hair look like yours, I’m all over it!!! Thanks for this and for all you do Natasha XO

“The truth is, when you’re depressed, obsessive, lonely, in pain and feel hopeless, you’re literally creating dis-ease in your body. Your muscles, tissues and organs all store emotion and trauma” Oh my, do I agree with this! It all makes sense why I was diagnosed with EDS and fibro after the breakup. Love love love this post! Thanks for sharing your morning routine. I have a similar routine: I’m allergic to bee pollen, so add a bit of raw honey into my lemon and cinnamon tea every morning.

I am SO EXCITED about the new look! It’s SO incredibly classy (just like you!) 🙂 xxxx

Hi Natasha,

Probably I missed it, how many tea spoons of cinnamon, bee pollen and apple mouse do I need to mix in the bowl? Would really appreciate it if you could write it down when you have time. Looking forward trying this. I love all these ingredients, but never tried bee pollen.

Thanks a lot,
Shahane xx

Hi Shahane!

I use a lot of cinnamon (entire teaspoon), but I would suggest starting out with 1/4-1/2 of a teaspoon. Apple sauce is about 1-1 1/2 cups and I do 1-2 teaspoons of bee pollen 🙂 xxxxx

So, I did this now every morning for a week, and will keep going. I feel like my skin of my entire body got softer, cant wait to see what will happen with my breakout one week before my period. The lemon tea really wakes you up and gets you going in the morning. Thank you Nathasha! You have helped me in so many ways! You are blessed, dont ever forget that.
